Get to Know Your Solar Farm!

The Bladensburg Community Solar Farm resides on Bladensburg Road in Brentwood, Prince George's County, Maryland, turning underutilized rooftop and parking space into clean, renewable energy and savings for the community.

This community solar farm was designed with inclusivity and energy equity in mind. Forty percent of the project is dedicated to serving low- to moderate-income (LMI) subscribers, offering them a higher discount of 20%. The remaining capacity supports commercial subscribers, making the project a balanced resource for the local energy grid.

This solar array uses 728 high-quality solar panels, and environmental responsibility is built into the project from day one. Granite Canyon (the project owner) is committed to responsible sourcing and long-term stewardship, including planning for panel reuse or recycling at the end of their 25–30 year lifespan. When the solar panels are no longer usable, they will be refurbished or recycled through SEIA-certified facilities, with up to 95% of materials recovered (including glass, aluminum, silicon, and metals) and zero waste sent to landfills, in full compliance with Maryland regulations.

Construction has been completed, and the project is expected to begin generating clean energy beginning on July 4, 2026.
