Abingdon Landfill A Community Solar Farm is turning a hazardous waste site into an environmental asset for the community by generating clean energy for local residents atop Abingdon Landfill in Maryland. Local residents who get their electricity from BG&E can benefit from 10% savings by subscribing to this solar farm.
More than half of the farm's energy output and associated savings are reserved for income-qualified subscribers. This means households that qualify as low- or moderate-income can access an even higher discount on the clean energy generated by their share of the solar farm, saving 20% compared to the standard utility rate.
Subscribers will be allocated a share of the solar energy generated each month, which is reflected as community solar credits on their utility bill. Subscribers then pay Neighborhood Sun for these credits at a discount (10-20%, depending on income qualifications), thus reducing their total cost of electricity. This solar farm will generate enough carbon-free electricity to support hundreds of nearby households, helping to improve air quality and the resiliency of the local electric grid. Availability is limited, so reserve your share to lock in your savings before it sells out!
A small portion of this solar farm's energy is also available to commercial subscribers like a business, school, or nonprofit.
